Michael DeWolfe is a queer nonbinary communications professional with 6 years of experience working in the LGBTQ nonprofit sector. They started in a trial by fire as a volunteer for a local Pride festival. Somewhere between dragging dripping wet trash bags across the grass, taking down dozens of tents, and (quickly) escorting (late) drag queens to make their performance time, Michael felt community for the first time. They have chased that feeling since.
Before coming to Anchor Health, Michael coordinated Triangle Community Center’s annual Pride festival in 2017 and 2018 and New Haven Pride Center’s festival in 2019. Their role included recruiting, training, and managing hundreds of volunteers to run all-day festivals.
In 2019, Michael joined our team. As our Head of Communications & Events, they are responsible for setting and guiding the strategy for our communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral, ensuring it stays true to our mission. On a typical workday, Michael is brainstorming ridiculous TikTok ideas to entertain our 36,000 followers or hunting down Twitter reaction clips for our latest YouTube video. They work closely with our team to create funny, educational, and poignant content for our social media. Michael also coordinates all our community events.
A creative fire sign and New Haven local, Michael is a diehard Bravo fan who loves $7 iced matcha lattes, traversing downtown with their friends, and endlessly scrolling through their For You page.
