Peter Kelly is a successful health care executive, having retired as president of Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC), a member of the Nuvance Health System, in February of 2023. During his tenure at VBMC, Peter oversaw the completion of a new $580 million inpatient pavilion and the occupancy of the pavilion amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In January of 2023, VBMC was recognized as one of America’s 50 best hospitals by Healthgrades, a leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.

Before assuming the role of president at VBMC, Peter was the president of Putnam Hospital Center, also a member of the Nuvance Health System, where he oversaw the design and construction of a 16,000-square-foot addition to the hospital emergency room.

Previous to his roles at the Nuvance Health System, Peter spent 21 years at Beth Israel Medical Center in various executive positions, including chief operating officer. Later he spent 6 years with Continuum Health Partners, a health care system comprised of Beth Israel Medical Center, St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Medical Center, Long Island Hospital, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, first as chief operating officer and later as president and chief executive officer.

Peter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Bonaventure University and a Master of Professional Studies from Long Island University. He also served as a field artillery officer in the United States Army. Peter and his wife, Lorraine, have four grown children and have been residents of Greenwich for 30 years.

Peter’s decades of experience in the operations of health care companies have proven invaluable as Anchor Health has grown from a startup to a flourishing organization today.
